Pet Fucking Peeves

Every once in a while one must vent…

My pet peeve about Tumblr is when people bitch because I post something that they claim to have the right to.  Let’s make this real simple people:

1. The internet is HUGE and if you happen to post a photo and I post the same photo, it does not mean I stole it from you! I doubt you were Marilyn Monroe’s photographer, filmed The Wizard of Oz, overheard a quote by Einstein, were an illustrator for Esquire, or were a Pin-Up artist in the 40s or 50s…

2. Animated gifs… There are millions of these around the internet.  If you made it, and are an attention whore, SIGN IT. If you made a gif and posted it to Tumblr chances are very good that by the end of the day your gif can also be found on dozens of other blogs and websites as well.  Oh and we all seem to forget that WE DO NOT OWN COPYRIGHT of many of the clips we use to create animated gifs.  So get over yourself.

3. When I began Tumblr almost 3 yeas ago, I did so to create a visual scrapbook of things I find interesting.  I did not create my Tumblr to be famous, popular, or an attention whore.  If you create a Tumblr for these reasons you will fail!  Great Tumblr blogs are great because there is passion behind them.  If you happen to become popular… that is just a side effect from your love of what you do.

Tumble because it makes you happy…

Have a nice day…

(*The above does not pertain to artists, writers, musicians, and creators of original content.  They must be given credit! It only applies to curators like myself that spend too much fucking time looking at history through photographs and other forms of digital media)
